Between 8 and 9 tonight, Earl Sweatshirt made one of his most public statements in over a year by creating a Twitter account. He promised he would release new material if he gained 50,000 followers by the end of the evening, and he reached that level just several hours later.
He proceeded to release a track called ‘Home’ via what appears to be his personal website at http://terttlefer.com/.
I am trying not to overreact to this news, but I want to take a minute to explain why this is so exciting. Earl has just one complete project to his name, his highly acclaimed self-titled mixtape. Besides that, he has appeared on some Odd Future tracks and did a few solo freestyles, but he really does not have that much material out there. What he has released is fantastic though and demonstrates a tremendous command for rhyming. Further, much of it was recorded while Earl was just 16 years old or younger. However, after treating the world to his abilities, Earl essentially disappeared. Evidence suggests his mom sent him to a school for trouble youths in the Samoan Islands. Within the last few weeks though, indications suggested he was back in Los Angeles, and now we are finally hearing new music.
It’s quite exciting to consider how much time Earl has to grow and improve. As a friend once said on Twitter, “Has there ever been a greater 16-year-old rapper than Earl Sweatshirt?” Few 16 years olds, if any, have had the exposure Earl had at the age, but I wonder if Eminem could touch Earl at this age.
Needless to say, it is an exciting evening for rap fans. The track released tonight features Earl flowing in his typical style and is nothing amazing and doesn’t touch upon Earl’s situation for the past 18 months, but concludes with the line, “Annnnd I’m back, bye.”
Cool song, cool sample. Might appreciate it more if you just listen without watching the video the first time. Arnold x Luke Million.

Game On: GQ Takes To Its Home Field for New York Fashion Week
This is how we roll.
I visited these offices this summer and it was perhaps the highlight of my non-existent high-fashion career. So much fresh stuff that you literally can only find in GQ. My friend who works there told me that every now and then they have to clear out the closet and it’s a free-for-all for many accessories and shoes.
